LEVEL: Although this workout is designed to fit all levels, it’s pretty challenging. You’ll feel most confident if you’re fitness level is intermediate to advanced.

APPROX CALORIES BURNED: 300-500

TOP 3 TAKEAWAYS:

  • Set your own pace. During most Red Dot workouts, you’ll complete 3 rounds for each set. The faster you work, the more rest you’ll have at the end. If you need to slow it down, no worries. The instructor will let you know when it’s time to go to the next move.
  • Modify when needed. At Red Dot, all exercises are challenging. If you have a pre-existing injury or an exercise is too difficult, modify. As you get stronger, you can work your way up.
  • Ask away. The exercises at Red Dot can get complex. If you’re unsure about the proper execution or how many reps you need to complete, just ask. The instructors are happy to help you out.

MUSIC: Caitlin graced us with a throwback playlist of hits from the 90’s and 2000’s. It was mainly hip hop with a mix of pop here and there that made all attendees want to sing along. Between sets, she turned down the tunes so that attendees could hear her description of the exercises, then promptly pumped it back up when it was go time.

BRING: Bring a water bottle. Towels are provided.

CLASSPASS: Yes

THE WORKOUT

Caitlin started off the workout with a five-minute warmup, built to engage the muscles we’d be using during the session: TRX squat and rotation, caterpillar pushups, and TRX supported lunges. As soon as everyone finished their reps, she dove into an explanation of our first set.

There were four sets total with three exercises or exercise combinations. The muscle groups we hit throughout them all included chest, back, shoulders, abs, and lots of glutes and quads. A few attendee favorites (read: the ones we love to hate because they burned so good) were the eccentric push-up, the squat to lunge combination, and the 3-point TRX crunch. We  felt our abs for days after this class. After the final set, you were done and free to go.

This workout, like many of Red Dot’s small group sessions, was a doozy. It is a must-try for anyone who enjoys building strength and feeling the burn.
