Workout class with woman in black squatting with weights

Meditation meets HIIT at Mind Body Project. Classes start with a meditation and breath work before jumping into a HIIT workout, complete with TRX and weights. Class ends with a savasana style meditation. And while we loved the workout, we REALLY loved the space. It’s beautifully designed, and comes loaded with great post-class products and a hammock lounge area. This is truly a one-of-a-kind fitness oasis in the middle of NYC. We’d be surprised if this studio didn’t turn into every NYC fit girl’s next studio obsessions.

THE DEETS

  • Studio: Mind Body Project, Flatiron
  • Class Name:  Breathe. Burn. Calm.
  • Location: Flatiron
  • Trainer: Tyler W

THE SPACE

  • Covid Safety: Must be vaccinated to take class, and lots of hand sanitizer around the studio.
  • Cleanliness: Studio looks like it could pass the white glove test, TBH.
  • Vibe: Very chill, low key vibe — and not too sceney. But we suspect this studio is going to be a big hit in the city.
  • Lockers:  Lots of lockers. Way more than needed, which is great
  • Showers: 4 coed
  • Products:
    • Public Goods shampoo, conditioner, body wash, lotion.
    • Cleo + Coco dry shampoo.
    • Antedotum face oil, firming serum, and body moisturizer

THE WORKOUT

Best for: Intermediate, advanced levels — There’s a lot of weight lifting in this class, so you should have a basic understanding of form.

Music: Top 40s and Pop (we heard 3 Beyonce songs, so it’s an A+ from us!)

Sweat level: 8/10 You get a heavy workout, but you’re not dripping sweat

Tone level: 9/10

Overall: 10/10: This is a NYC must!

EXTRAS:

Bring: Weight lifting gloves

ClassPass: No

FINAL THOUGHTS

Breathe. Burn. Calm. at Mind Body Project is officially a Sweat Report favorite. It combined our favorite parts of yoga with a hard-hitting strength training workout. Class starts with 5 minutes of breath work before jumping into a HIIT workout complete with bodyweight training, weightlifting, and even a little TRX. There’s a 90-second breath work break in the middle of the workout before finishing up class with a savasana meditation. Talk about getting those endorphins to pop off!

While impressed about the class, what REALLY sets this studio apart is this studio’s design. It feels like more of a spa than a workout studio. There’s a hammock for lounging; bright, clean decor with plenty of greenery; and quality products for post-workout refreshing. What else could you want? This is definitely a studio to put on your must try list.
